Inside the mind of a psychotic make up fiend..

The Jessie Path to Flawless Skin *** In this crap economy, here's my method to achieving just that..
[info]boxcarjessie
spending MINIMAL FUNDS!!!!

Now, ladies...remember, we all have different skin types...the products I am about to discuss are very versatile and can be modified when it comes to how much you use and what variety of product you use. Sticking with this plan, though...for a very limited amount of money, you CAN achieve that flawless skin from the inside out ergo; you achieve a flawless make up application every single time.

The first product and skin treatment I am going to discuss is the Aspirin Mask and Scrub..

Go out and buy some generic Aspirin. Make sure you purchase the uncoated variety. You can get a big bottle like this for about a dollar at your local drug store or grocery store. Aspirin's active ingredient is: acetylsalicylic acid. Salicylic acid (BHA) is one of those great, exfoliating acids that has great anti-inflammatory properties as well as a nack for deeply cleaning the pores. When used on the skin, it clears up acne, smooths skin and sloughs off dead skin cells leaving you with fantastically radiant skin. It is the best exfoliant I have ever used. I've used Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub as well as their Daily Micro-foliant..both very high priced, exfoliating products and they don't work half as well as the Aspirin Treatments. There's a few ways to use this product on your skin. Here's my way. Now if you have dry, sensitive skin then you'll want to only use 4-5 tablets and substitute the fresh, citrus juice with Honey which is highly healing and moisturizing. Here's what I do. I have normal - combo skin with some adult acne and fine lines.

* 7-9 Aspirin Tablets
* small bowl to combine ingredients
* 1/2 teaspoon of fresh, citrus juice (This adds a whole nuther dimension to the exfoliation as it adds the power of Citric Acid to the mix)

Place tablets in the bottom of the bowl and drizzle each tablet with about a drop of the juice. After about 20 seconds, you'll start to notice the tablets dissolving and becoming powdery. Gently mash the pills with your fingers to create a rough, paste. Make sure not to use too much juice, water or honey as it will make the consistency too liquidy and the mixture won't adhere to the skin like it should. Once the consistency is thick and granulated, apply to your face avoiding the eye area. I do this first thing when I get in the shower. Massage the mixture onto the skin, gently and leave on for the duration of the shower. The steam of the shower will also add another benefit to this treatment as it opens the pores and allows the acids to fully penetrate into the pores. HOT! Once you're done washing, rinse the mixture off your face. Pat dry.

When you're finished with this treatment, your skin will be smooth as a baby's ass and you'll notice that your pores look less noticable. Redness will be lessened and acne will be soothed. You'll wanna use the Aspirin Treatment once or twice a week only as it is a potent treatment and can dry out the skin when used too often.

NEXT STEP... MOISTURIZE...

Depending on your skin type, I've found the best moisturizers on the drug store shelves today are generally in the Neutrogena line. My normal - combo skin with fine lines LOVES this formulation..

Neutrogena • Healthy Skin Face Lotion with SPF 15!! This stuff has been UNGODLY perfect for my skin. It's oil free and superb for clearing up acne, healing old acne scars, diminishing fine lines, smoothing the skin and evening out skin tone. It isn't heavy and it stings when you first apply it because of the Alpha Hydroxy acids in it. The stinging lets you know it's working, as far as I'm concerned. I use it morning and night as it doesn't clog pores and gives my skin the essential moisture it needs while giving a mild exfoliation at the same time. This makes for moisturized skin at the deepest level which means it is going to prevent wrinkles in the future and keep your skin functioning how it should. There are other products in the Healthy Skin line that would be perfect for every skin type...so do your research, damn it!

:):):):):)

Along with the OCM, which is cheap as hell in itself to maintain, these two amazing products will keep your skin looking flawless at a reasonable price in this shitty economy. The economy might be fucked but your skin doesn't have to be. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My Favorite ALL PURPOSE Soap.. Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap!
[info]boxcarjessie
http://www.drbronner.com/

As cool and fresh as a summer's breeze.... PFT!!!!!!!!!! No really, this is my all time favorite soap EVER! It fits in perfectly with my OCM....more about that in a previous entry...check out the post about the Oil Cleansing Method! I buy this at my local Whole Foods in bulk. You need about two squirts of the concentrated, castille soap diluted with water to create the most luxurious lather imaginable. (nice, thick, rich lather that doesn't strip your skin of it's essential hydration!!) The ingredients are simple and natural:

Water, Saponfied Organic Coconut Oil*, Saponified Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Glycerin, Organic Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Mentha Arvensis Extract, Organic Mentha Peperita (Peppermint) Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol (* Certified Fair Trade by IMO)

This product is another one of those Vegan friendly products...so....calling all hippies!! This is for you. ::winkwink::

I use this soap on my body and it's the only thing that really gets my dirty ass clean. When you rinse it off, it rinses clean leaving behind tingly, fresh, supple skin. The specially formulated oils in this soap are just perfect for removing make up as well! I wear tons of it, and this is the only soap that I've found that really removes every last bit of my heavy eye make up without leaving my skin cracked and dry. So, I love using this on my face. My skin has never looked better. I am less oily, since the oils in the soap give my skin what it needs to function at it's best on its own!

Nothing wakes me up in the morning like a hot shower with my Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap....if you haven't tried it...do it nah!

Fantastic Glycerin Based Recipes for DIY Skin Care and Beauty
[info]boxcarjessie
I have been having such a wonderful time experimenting with my Vegetable Glycerin! My skin has never looked better and I still have almost a full bottle of it left! Here are some recipes that I have tried and loved. They're easy to put together and use. Next time you're in one of those fancy, high end, beauty shops...check out the skin care and moisturizers...the ingredients usually contain some kind of Glycerin with various other essential oils... Why spend all that money when you can just throw together your own, fantastic skin care products? Remember, these homemade recipes expire after about two weeks so you'll need to make new batches, frequently!

Glycerin and Rosewater Moisturizer (for face and body)

3 Tablespoons of Glycerin
3 Tablespoons of Rosewater

Combine ingredients in clean, container or spray bottle. Shake before each use.

Firming Face Mask

1 Tablespoon of Honey
1 Egg White
1 Teaspoon of Glycerine
Enough Flour to Form a Paste

Whisk together ingredients to form a paste consistency, apply to skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wipe off with a very warm wash rag then rinse off the residue.

Cleansing Oil

For oily and acne prone skin

3 tbsp. aloe-vera juice
3 tbsp. liquid castile soap
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
3 drops lemon essential oil
3 drops tea-tree essential oil

For normal and combination

3 tbsp. aloe-vera juice
3 tbsp. liquid castile soap
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
3 drops lemon essential oil
3 drops orange essential oil

For dry and mature skin

3 tbsp. aloe-vera juice
3 tbsp. liquid castile soap
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
3 drops carrot-seed essential oil
3 drops geranium essential oil

For sensitive skin

3 tbsp. aloe-vera juice
3 tbsp. liquid castile soap
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
3 drops German-chamomile essential oil
3 drops helichrysum essential oil

For the whole body

3 tbsp. aloe-vera juice
3 tbsp. liquid castile soap
3 tbsp. sunflower oil
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
3 drops peppermint essential oil
3 drops rosemary essential oil

Mix all of the ingredients in a container/bottle. Shake thoroughly before each use. These cleansing oils will keep for about 1 month.

More to come! Gotta go lay down...but seriously....try some of these out sometime..you'll be glad you did.

N.Y.C. Chroma Face Glow in Moonstone: A Review @)--^--,--'---,-----
[info]boxcarjessie
Yesh, I came upon this Limited Edition Gem at my local CVS Pharmacy. I couldn't believe it cause I hadn't been able to find it for so dang long! There is was.....one.....N.Y.C. Chroma Face Glow in Moonstone...

It's a mauve/ pink/ plum/ gold veined, baked product...

that is an amazing highlighter and sheer, luminizing blush. It is a near exact Dupe of the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Petticoat. The only difference is that it is not quite as pigmented as the MSF. This fact actually puts it in a higher league in my book because it creates an enchanting effect when worn over matte blushes. The glow is positively ethereal so if you can get a hold of one of these puppies, you'll be glad you did. I love wearing it right above my blush as a highlighter or even packed on as my sole blush!! I wish it wasn't limited edition, damn it. But....whatcha gonna do. Who knows! Maybe they'll bring it back by popular demand! Only time will tell. I'm wearing this over my Femme Couture Mineral Peach Blossom Blush in the Taupe Eyes FOTD pics. You might be able to tell, but probably not cause I have no decent webcam or digital camera...so....

can you see it?? You kinda can...

Here's Sandstone and Moonstone...Dupes of MAC MSF in So Ceylon and Petticoat.

Decadent.

FOTD ** Blazin' Red and more o' Dat Drug Store Review!!
[info]boxcarjessie

I used a heck of a lot of my new drug store products here...lemmie give ya the scoop...

L'Oreal HIP Crayon in Unmistakable..

When I first swatched this on my hand, I was not impressed. I am used to the finish of the Maybelline Cool Effects Shadow Sticks...metallic and smooth. This kinda felt a bit tacky when I first applied it on my hand. I'm glad I tried it as a base on my lids for my Blazin' Red look as this shadow stick is amazing with elimating creasing of every shadow I used on top of it!! Not to mention that the color is stunning..a rich, pinkish red, wet looking color. It's lush. This shade stick runs at around $10, if I remember correctly.

I also used my new Milani Eyeshadow in Flare. This was around $3 or so...gotta love it. It's a shimmery, intense, copper color...can't seem to find a pic...but it's a great, high quality shadow that doesn't share the "dusty" quality that the Rimmel Three Sum Shadow has. Milani is all around a good bet, in my eyes. I've had quite a few of their blushes and eyeshadows become favorites of mine.

Moving onto the coveted, Jane Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner in Black.

This stuff is my HG (Holy Grail) Gel Liner!! It's comparable in quality to the MAC Blacktrack Gel Liner and wayyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper!! This liner goes on creamy and easily, right on the lashline with no tugging at your lids. Once it's on, it stays put all day and does not smudge. The little brush it comes with is actually pretty alright and easy to work with though I look forward to applying this with my eyeliner brush next time. This product breaks the bank at around $5.99. Not bad, if ya ask me!! The MAC alternative costs around $13.00. WOOHOO!

The L'Oreal HIP Loose Kohl Liner in Burgundy...

a bit pricier, these eye kohls....these run at most stores for about $12-$13, but I swear these are so worth it.

Yah, it's the only pic I could find. lololololol!!! I talked about the black version in a previous post...the burgundy is just as great, and the effect is smokey and deep. I think I might like the Burgundy more than the black! I still have my Teal to try...I'll post pics when that happens. These are great dupes of the Guerlain Loose Kohls that you can get at Sephora for $33 bucks. I was applying the black one using the Eastern Method but I have found it is much easier to apply these kohls by laying the stylus along the waterline, removing, and blinking to get the kohls on the upper lid as well. Easy as pie. Just be careful with fallout, just tap the excess off before removing the applicator all the way out of the container.

Sonia Kashuk Velvety Matte Lip Crayon in Mulberry Nude...

I never thought a matte lip color could be so silky and NON-drying on my lips. This stuff stays for hours with a satiny finish and withstands even the messiest of dinners. I need to get the other colors cause I really can't imagine my arsenol without this lil number, right here. The color is a deep, neutral berry color. Also, Sonia Kashuk products are not tested on animals so that's always a plus.

LOL! I even got more for yous....stay tuned...I'm on cloud nine.

luv,
jessie
